I thought this was funny.
My novel, Beauty Rising, got a less than stellar rating on Goodreads recently. That happens, and I’m OK with that. I can’t expect everyone to like it.
Just out of curiosity, I clicked on the rater’s Goodreads page to see what kind of books this person typically likes. Topping the list of favorites was the Twighlight series and a bunch of other over the top, leave little to the imagination romantic selections.
I was suddenly just fine with the rating because I’m not going for the Twilight crowd.
So if you like vampires, vapid romances, erotic tales without a sense of a moral compass, then don’t bother with Beauty Rising.
And this illustrates beautifully why everyone will not like my book.
It does not involve the supernatural.
It does not involve vampires, werewolves, or other forms of strange creatures.
It does not involve pages of intimate description.
It does involve harsh-reality driven themes.
It does involve history.
It does involve heart-wrenching plot twists.
It does involve a swift moving dialogue driven prose.
So if the Twilight series is your idea of a good read, please don’t bother with my writing.
I don’t want to waste your time.
