And suddenly it’s over.
3 months of writing. 4 months of production and rehearsal.
3 performances.
Gone!
That was the reality last night around midnight when I rolled into the house slightly blurry-eyed, with sweat and adrenaline driving my emotions as I sentimentally thought back over the three amazing performances of my young actors who brought my play, “Grandparents’ War”, to life.
It’s always depressing to know that it’s finished. At this point, I don’t remember those long practices when I felt like going home. I don’t think about the frustrations or obstacles which had to be overcome. I don’t think about the endless hours of promotion, flyer-making, painting, planning, teaching, or mentoring.
At this point, I only think of one thing: I can’t wait to do it again!
I wish to thank my wonderful actors who put in endless hours on top of their very busy schedules. All of the applause and accolades are for you! It is your reward – a richly deserved one.
I also must thank the backstage crew and sound/lighting technician who do crucial, often thankless jobs. Couldn’t have done it without you.
We’ll start the process all over again in August when I’ll partner up with another young writing team to create an original script to produce.
I can’t wait.
