After lamenting in the blog the loss of over a 1000 words earlier this week, I finally went at it to recreate once again what I had already created once.
Well, the effort has well paid off. I buzzed pass the threshold easily in such a way that I wonder if I should always throw out my first effort.
This re-write just gelled together in so many wonderful ways that I’ll be playing off of these words for some time now. Could there be something to the idea of writing the first time as a conceptualization, and then writing again as the final creation? Could the first draft end up being the fodder for further inspiration?
Should I write a whole novel, throw it out and then write it all again?
OK, perhaps that is going too far.
The reality is that I could never throw out words on purpose. But if they ever happen to just disappear on me, perhaps it’s not a total loss.
