Another cool feature of Penang – covered sidewalks.

I was walking down by Nagore Place not long ago and snapped this photo.

I’ve seen these types of sidewalks built into the building before, but this is the first time that they really grabbed my attention. How cool! These can be found in several different places throughout Georgetown, and since I know nothing about architecture, I won’t pretend to know any specific details about them. (Although I could get creative and make something up.)

Anyways, another small architectural reason to love Penang. It is a UNESCO World Heritage City after all. The British Era Chinese Architecture is to be treasured, perhaps that’s why the producers of the new BBC historical production, “Indian Summers” choose Penang as the site for its filming. I believe it is set to debut in January 2015. Watch for it.

In the meantime, come to Penang and walk through the cool sidewalks.

Did I mention the food?
