The Crazy What Comes Next

I haven’t been writing here as much as I’d like, that’s for sure. But life has been going full force lately with lots going on. Here’s a few snippets of the past and the near future that I’m excited about.

I left Saudi Arabia and my full-time theatre teaching job in June and headed back to New York with uncertainty staring me in the face. With some of the extra time I had, I started podcasting which I really enjoyed until … well, that’s the future. I picked up a part-time job when I arrived in New York, and one day, my supervisor asked me if I knew there was an opening for the so-called theatre manager at the college. She was aware of my background. I was not aware of the opening. But after four rounds of interviews I fell into the sweetest of roles–the Arts Programming Administrator at the local college. Basically, I produce shows and manage the theatre. It’s awesome, really. And it’s been a whirlwind. Fell right into musical season with a production of Something Rotten just kicking off when I joined the team. So I’ve been keeping all the loose ends of this massive show under control as the director cracks the whip and keeps the story in shape. That’s coming in November.

It’s been a great and fun and ridiculously busy learning curb in the new role. But I’ve been hanging out in the fly galley, learning about the Dante network, and programming those lights on the ETC Ion. And that’s just a fraction of my role. This past week I had a great playwriting workshop with three eager young playwrights showing up. I’m hoping they can write some short plays we can produce for spring 2024.

Then on the personal side, I’ve been feverishly editing my 13th novel which is releasing November 25. Lady Trieu is already availble for pre-orders on Amazon. A paperback and (possibly) hardcover is in the works too! Christmas is around the corner. Keep this in mind.

To top this off, I’m compiling Vol 6 and 7 of my Short Play Collection. Vol 6 will be a series of comedic plays while Vol 7 will be dramatic. Still a lot of editing to do on both of those. Would love to get them out by the end of the year, but that seems doubtful a the moment.

Lastly, I have two weeks of international travel coming up after Thanksgiving. More details to follow.

It’s all been crazy fun and I look forward to what this fall and 2024 will bring in regards to creativity and writing. It’s already been quite the journey. Here’s the book. Check it out! Promise. It’s terrific fun.
