I’m getting prepared for many things, including the end of summer. I’m back in the theatre after a great month of travel to Turkey and Malaysia, which I woefully neglected to post about. Perhaps I still will. I do have some cool photos to share. Soon.
Writing continues, albeit slower. As I mentioned, this will be the first year since 2012 that I will not be publishing a novel. This is purposeful, completely related to my current project, which is taking much longer than I anticipated. But I want to get it right. I do have a working title: Tesler & the Burning Bush. It’s quite the story so far. I’m now writing part three, which is the final part in the novel. When finished, I’m confident it will end up being my longest novel I’ve ever written. This, of course, can be good or bad. Let’s hope I’m erring on the previous. My goal is to have a draft done by the end of the year with a release date of fall 2025, perhaps. Let’s see where it takes me. This is an engaging contemporary, realistic novel, but it does have a few interesting twists to it. Let’s hope I can pull it off.
This fall will be extremely busy in the theatre as I’ll be producing and directing two pieces, including the first one called “Decadal: The Descent from Glory” (A Devised Theatre Tale). It will be a theatrical representation of David Schnukel’s artwork entitled “Decadal.” I’m exited that he plans on attending the event, which is nerve-racking as well because we don’t yet have a show. We have to create it. And we don’t yet have a we–auditions are next week. The pressure is on. Showdates will be October 4-5 @ The Scharmann Theatre on the campus of SUNY Jamestown. If you are going to be in the region … I’m also super excited to have received permission from musician Kerry Livgren to use two of his compositions as part of the show as well. The two songs (Pilgrim’s Wake and Things We Are Breaking) were part of Proto-Kaw’s album FORTH. They are wonderful, theatrical progressive rock tunes which will fit the tone and theme of the devised piece. So we have multiple artistic prompts to help us create. We’re gonna need it because we have less than 4 weeks to create the one hour show.
I’ll be sure to post some photos of rehearsals and sets as we move along. Lots of fun work ahead while the writing of my 14th novel plods along. Take care. Be in touch soon.
