Each time I have to sit back and evaluate the bright, expectant faces who eagerly want a role, I say to myself, “Where’s my casting director?”

Oh the luxury of having a casting director. Let that person weigh the merits of 5 amazing monologues for one open role.  Let that person turn down the one girl who put her heart and soul into the performance. Let that person agonize over the different criteria of entry. Let that person be the thick-skinned gate-keeper. Let that person…..EXIST! Please.

Wouldn’t it be great to have someone say, “Mr. Director, here’s your cast.”

Wouldn’t that be awesome?

I can dream.

(P.S. On the other hand, if I had a casting director, I wouldn’t get emails back from my new cast members that said things like this: “THANK. YOU. SOOOO. MUCH!” )
