Six Hours of Musical Drama Writing

When I have six hours of work ahead of me, at times, it can seem like an eternity.

When I have six hours of writing ahead of me, oh how invigorating it is!

On my day off day, I spent hours working with several individuals on the full-length musical we are writing for 2014. What a lot of fun!

Some highlights:

Me singing through a bunch of songs, going back and forth with myself on some lyrics with others looking at me like “is this guy for real?” haha I am. It was fun.

Long talks about plot. Disagreement, idea off of idea, brainstorming. And then breakthrough when the final two writers standing finally just nailed it! I love it when a plan comes together.

Lunch. Tandori-garlic butter nan-set. Hmmmm.

Discussions about characters, melodies, possible actors, auditions, dancing, singing, choreography, and set design. How fun!

And then the saddest part of the day was when I realized that some people in the world actually get to do this for a living, for a living wage, as in they get paid, real money. Creation for a pay check.

Maybe someday. I can dream.

In the meantime, I’m having a blast.
