Life Outside the Internet

I’m having one of those weeks where everything is falling apart. An ironic harbinger for sure during a week when I also have a birthday. But that’s another matter.

Let’s start with car trouble. Yes, at it again. My mechanic said that I blew a head gasket. We’ve been driving it around for a long time with this problem. I’ve heard that it isn’t good to do that. Ooops. I stopped by yesterday to see it, and it was still in the middle of open heart surgery, parts sprawled all around, many organ donations needed. I think it will need some transfusions of new blood, also. I do not plan to be a donor.

While my car is under the knife, my Internet decided to call it quits too. It’s been on and off for a month now. On Monday, it went off completely and I decided to try a new router. I went and bought it, set it up and nothing. So I called my isp and they said, nothing. Or more accurately – “it’s not working.”

The technician called me on Tuesday morning and asked if it still wasn’t working. I told him I’d call him back when I got home that day. Well, I’ve been calling him back for three days now and he still hasn’t answered his phone. It’s also still not working. I re-called my isp yesterday and they said someone would call and come over today. Well, more of the same.

So we’ve been relegated to no internet this week at home. Rather strange, but there are things to do. I got out my “Monk” DVD collection and started re-watching them. I love Monk.

I’ve also spent a lot of time re-working my play, making some significant improvements in it. We’ve even had small happenings of conversation happening. I better watch not to strain my voice.

So life continues whether Internet exists or not. I had kind of forgotten.

I wonder what it will be like in the future when I have a car and I can drive it on the information superhighway. What a rush it will be!

In the meantime, I always have “Monk.”
