I’m excited to announce the publication of a book I never intended on writing. It’s a short and sweet nostalgic memoir for me as I think back through the childhood stories which helped solidfy my formative years. The book will be availble on Kindle ebook and paperback on July 6. This also happens to be my father’s birthday. It seemed like a good release date. If the description below sounds interesting, please check it out.
Book Desciption: Before technology swept away society’s mid-twentieth century ways …
“My childhood from a sliver of time, from a sliver of rural Appalachia, from a period of great change, which would witness much more, does not map out a blueprint to be followed or a wish to be re-lived. It is a small testament of where we once were. Perhaps it can teach a lesson or two—we’re never too old to learn. More likely, however, these stories will provide a chuckle to some, a touch of nostalgia to others, and a firm rooting to those close to me so they can better understand their heritage.” – MWS
Nostalgic. Funny. Touching.
Before technology swept away society’s mid-twentieth century ways, a blonde-haired, tongue-tied Applachian boy tries to make sense of a hard-to-explain world. The mysteries of girls. The trials of school. The safety of family. The confusion of church. The cold facts of death.
These are the memories of a boy navigating his way through his first kiss, a paddling from a body building teacher, a runaway wagon, a fist fight, an encounter with the police, and a coffin he never wanted to visit. These nostalgic memories, woven together in humorous and poignant stories, point back to a simpler time, while encouraging you to think through your own meaningful memories, which have formed you into the person you are today.
