I’m humbled to have Colleen Cheseboro from Litworldinterviews to give such a great review of The Reach of the Banyan Tree.
Here’s her first paragraph:
“I was instantly transported back into time to August 1945, French Indochina, where Charles Regal Carson, an American soldier with the OSS Deer Team, was tasked to assist Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen to fight against the Imperialist Japanese in World War II. What ensues is a hauntingly lovely contemporary romance filled with suspense and intrigue that brought me to tears, as I lived through the lives of Charles (Cha Le), Mai, Long, Thuy, and Charles III.”
And her overall assessment:
Realistic Characterization: 5/5
Made Me Think: 5/5
Overall enjoyment: 5/5
Overall Rating: 5

And there’s a great promotion coming up this week for Banyan Tree. Watch for details soon!
If not, I’d ask you to give it a try. It doesn’t cost much. Only $2.99 on Kindle. Cheaper than a cup of coffee.
It’s a romance for those who don’t like romance.
It’s a history for those who don’t like history.
It will teach you something about Vietnam, culture, and family without bashing you over the head.
It will be fast moving – I promise. That’s the way I love to write. I’m not going to bog you down with 10 pages of description each chapter.
It will have memorable characters. I also promise.
It’s also an adventure.
It’s a war story that is only partially a war story.
It is NOT based on the Vietnam War. It’s set in 1945 and 2000.
The reviews have been excellent. Please read them HERE!
I would be forever grateful if you would give it a try: The Reach of the Banyan Tree
Thank you! (And it’s available in paperback, too! And it has a beautiful cover.)
Charlene, a reviewer for Literary R & R, just posted her review of “The Reach of the Banyan Tree.” Here is an excerpt:
“Weaving together a love story with intrigue, action, and historical fiction, this is a beautiful book by a gifted author that has something for everyone.. Most accurately, a familial tale, it teaches the reader of the roots that ground us, the shelter of our forefathers, and the expanse of our actions over further generations.”

A colleague of mine was gracious enough to read and review my third novel, The Reach of the Banyan Tree. I thought a few of his comments about the novel were pertinent. He said:
“A great historical fiction novel that made me feel like I was in Vietnam. Helped me understand Vietnam history more. The story line was wonderful and yet it challenged my own set of biases and notions.”
The Vietnam era was a confusing mess; that is for sure. But my novel deals with the generation before and after the Vietnam War – 1945 and 2000. I hope it will challenge your views of what we went through. But more than that, I hope you will enjoy the story because after all, on the most basic level, it’s a love story. Who can resist that?
